BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI HOSTS LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL! RALLY AND GOALS FOR GRADUATION RALLY
On October 20, the Lights On Afterschool! Rally and Goals for Graduation Rally were held for Club members. Each unit participated with a skit emphasizing the importance of quality, affordable afterschool programs for all children and the importance of setting goals for their school year. Goals for Graduation, a Boys & Girls Club program, introduces academic goal-setting for Club members, ages 6-15 by linking their future aspirations with concrete actions today. Members set achievable "Know-I-Can" Goals, more challenging "Think-I-Can" Goals and yearly "Believe-I-Can" Goals. They also create an action plan with daily and weekly goals leading to short- and long-term academic gains. Lights On Afterschool!, the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool, brings attention to the need for afterschool programs that keep kids safe, help working families, and improve academic achievement.
